“ The Artist (2021) is a visually arresting 59-minute film that delves into the psyche of Peter, a struggling artist whose obsession with his craft leads him down a dark and surreal path. As he grapples with the art world's indifference, Peter discovers that his own blood, seeping from a mysterious wound, becomes the key to his creative and commercial success. This haunting narrative explores themes of artistic integrity, sacrifice, and the blurred lines between creation and self-destruction. With a compelling score by William Choo. “

Reviews:
“This dark feature is a character study about the life of a troubled man who only sees what he wants to see. The plot is about being different, focusing on ideas and it also explores themes of friendship, personal struggles, obsession and mental health disorder. The plot is intriguing and the final act is rather memorable. This is a film that will most likely leave a significant impression."
- Jason Knight, UK film review
“This 58 minute film is a strange beast, an art film in more ways than one. Various unrelated characters sustain wounds on their bodies which, suggests Li, might be their inner truth leaking out… there are some similarities with Jo Begos's 2019 movie Bliss, which dealt with the crossover between art and blood. For a movie with a low budget it looks pretty good, and there's a fine score by William Choo to give it some class. Abstract and impenetrable it might be, but The Artist is visually arresting."
- Dark Eyes of London Review
“A rare thematic exploration into the psychopathology, chronic dysphoria, and neuroesthetics of artistry. how serious artists always feel an insatiability that something has been left untouched by their work, something's still missing."
